IPOB blasts MACBAN over comment on South-East governors’ rejection of cattle ranching

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has decried the effrontery of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), South-East chapter in weighing in on the recent refusal of the South-East Governors’ Forum to surrender parcels of land in their geopolitical zone for cattle ranching.

IPOB, speaking through its media and publicity secretary, Mr Emma Powerful, said the press release by MACBAN expressing surprise over the recent decision of the governors smacked of overconfidence and allegedly contained a subtle threat of attack.

The group said the reaction by MACBAN over the governors’ decision was utter contempt and a way of ‘speaking the minds of the northern caliphate which the group has come to represent since the coming of the present administration’.

IPOB maintained that the decision of the governors was a commendable one.

Powerful said in the statement, “The arrogant tone of their (MACBAN’s) statement and implied threat contained therein, against Igbo lives and businesses in the north, points clearly to an impending hostile response from them, which IPOB is both duty and honour bound not to ignore.

“We must make it abundantly clear that any attack against Igbo lives and businesses in the north, will be met with commensurate response in the south. Threats and large scale invasions of territories in the Middle-Belt may have had the effect of subduing indigenous Tiv resistance to the Fulani hegemonic juggernaut in the Middle Belt.”

IPOB further threatened that any attack on Igbo people and easterners living in the north will mark the beginning of what it called ‘the apocalyptic end of Nigeria’.

It said, “The sensible decision of hitherto docile South-East Governors to avoid wholesale breakdown of law and order in their region, through the banning of herdsmen activities, should be applauded by Arewa Consultative Forum, Sokoto Caliphate and all advocates of peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, not derided through the mouthpiece of Fulani terrorists the MACBAN.”

IPOB argued that given that 70 per cent of Nigeria’s land mass is in the north, it would be better for ranching and colonies for cattle to be allocated land in the north, instead of coming to the already tiny and landlocked South-East for land.

The group called on all South-East and South-South governors not to lose guard as the purported subtle threat by MACBAN should not be taken for granted.

Biafra: MASSOB, others reveal fresh plans towards achieving secession

Coalition of Biafra groups and the Alaigbo Development Foundation, ADF, have revealed fresh plans towards the actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra.

According to the coalition, a process has begun in uniting Igbo leaders in the struggle to realise the Biafran state.

Addressing newsmen in Owerri, the leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu said that the reason was to create a formidable relationship among Igbo leaders both in Nigeria and outside the country in the realisation of the struggle.

The conscious security of Igboland, 2019 general election and other diplomatic issues were also discussed in the meeting.

According to Madu, “The leadership of Alaigbo Development Foundation, led by Professor Uzodinma Nwala had a closed door meeting last Sunday with the representatives of the Coalition of pro-Biafra groups in Owerri.

“Though the details of the meeting were not disclosed, some issues raised in the meeting included examining the current challenges of Ndigbo in Nigeria with the need to explore and cement the much needed relationship with the leadership of pro-Biafra groups and other Igbo leaders

“The consultative meeting also flashed on the need to draw the attention and reassurance of other anti self determination elements in Igbo society into driving their political ships towards the yearnings and desires of Ndigbo.”

“The meeting which was centered mostly on the current political, religious, cultural and economical challenges in Igbo land including the agitation and clamour for Biafra Actualization lasted about three hours.

“The meeting also harped on the need for pro Biafra and self determination leadership heads and figures to swallow their individual prides and egos and establish a spirited and brotherly working relationship among themselves for the overall interest of our people.

“The representatives of the Coalition of pro Biafra groups reinstated their earlier submission to work and collaborate with every Igbo progressive and Biafranized group or movement including Alaigbo Development Foundation for the re establishment of our former dignities as a people.

“The details of other issues discussed which includes the conscious security of Igbo land, 2019 general election and other diplomatic contacts will not be disclose now.”

DSS didn’t arrest me over Biafra, APC trying to shut me up – Senator Abaribe

The Senator representing Abia South Senatorial district, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is doing the same things it accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of doing, and even worse.

Abaribe stated this on Saturday during a reception held in his honour in Aba, Abia state.

“The same thing that the APC accused PDP of doing, they are doing more and worse, the PDP Government was paying around N800 billion in subsidy when the fuel pump price per liter was N85, now the fuel pump price per liter is N145 yet APC is paying N1.4 trillion, so they should tell us how.

“There is no need calling it a name, under-recovery, what is wrong is wrong, even the change of name does not change it,” he said.

Abaribe’s comments came days after he was arrested and eventually released from the Department of State Services (DSS) custody.

He has now stated that he was incarcerated for doing nothing.

“The reason that was given when they came to search my residence is that I was accused of being a sponsor of the proscribed organization called IPOB.

“Those who accused me have done their search and since then, I have not heard anything from them, which means that certainly have not been able to find a reason for the arrest and detention,” he said.

Abaribe further accused the APC of attempting to arrest all those in the opposition.

“My party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the Ekiti State Rally sounded it loud and clear, that what the APC government wants to do is to take everybody out of circulation by arresting all of us.

“Of course, it is very sad for Nigeria, because PDP has been here for 16 years and all manner of people criticized the party and they were not arrested, so APC government should learn from us on how to manage criticism.

“People are being killed everywhere in Nigeria, and somebody is telling us that we should not blame him. They started by saying that it was the Libyans and then they turned around and said it was because of the laws that were passed.

“When we pointed out to them that the people were being killed in areas where there were no laws passed, they turned around and said, please try to live with your neighbours.

“When we said no, and questioned who are our neighbors were, they said, oh no, what you have to do is to pray. We have also prayed, and I prayed over there where they kept me, and I said “Oh God, our help in ages past” who has always helped us at every perilous moment like this, Our God will also save Nigeria, and we cannot have the APC Government continue.

“Let them wait for us, we are coming. Their arrest and detention will not make us stop saying the truth. I am a patriot, a patriotic Nigeria, and I will stand by this country,” the Senator added.

 Biafra: IPOB, Ohanaeze reconcile

The leadership of the apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have reconciled their differences.

A peace meeting was brokered between the two bodies by the Chairman of the Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, SAN.

The reconciliation means that the IPOB had stopped all forms of verbal attacks on the Igbo leaders.

The Deputy Leader of IPOB, Mazi Uche Mefor made this know in a statement made available to reporters in Enugu, Saturday.

The statement reads, “Following an important meeting with some respectable Igbo elders, the representatives of IPOB and leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo earlier today July 6, 2017 in Enugu, under the distinguished chairmanship of the very
eminent Prof. Ben Nwabueze; IPOB High Command hereby mandate that all forms of verbal attacks and name calling on all media platforms against Ohaneze Ndigbo seize with immediate effect.

“No IPOB family member should disparage Ohaneze Ndigbo or its leadership until further notice.

“This is strictly to give room for a number of representations and demands made by IPOB, to those present at the meeting to be given due attention within the shortest possible time-frame,
under an atmosphere devoid of rancour.

“The meeting stressed among other things the need for our people, who are presently under siege in parts of Enugu State, to recognise the urgency and need to synergise and constitute a common front against all forms of threats to our existence as a people.

“Should this gesture by IPOB, in the face of well documented betrayal and blackmail by the political class be taken for granted, IPOB shall have no option but to stand in the gap to defend the aspirations and collective will of the people of Biafra against every enemy.

“IPOB, as the most potent and largest freedom fighting outfit on earth, remains focused, determined and resolute. Our unalloyed commitment to a referendum in pursuit of our emancipation remain sacrosanct and insurmountable.”
